Skills or MCP or both?

Simon Willison claims that Skills can do anything that MCP can do because it has access to the command line and all its tools (e.g. gh, curl, etc). What’s missing from this view? MCP provides a degree of discoverability and configurability (think api keys, etc) that provide a tighter integration with services. My thesis is that use Skills for all they are good for, and add in MCP servers to services for everything else.
